I worked closely with Sotheby's in-house teams to craft a custom WordPress theme for the Art Agency, Partners website. This collaboration combined design concepts from the talented team with content input from editorial experts. After the initial launch, we continued to enhance the user experience with a significant design overhaul, introducing new features.
The Art Agency, Partners website had a unique editorial workflow, organized into thematic "Issues" with alternating weeks featuring podcasts. To address this, we created a custom post type for grouping articles into Issues, offering an accessible archive.
To accommodate various contributors, we introduced a custom Author setup, allowing multiple authors for a single article. This feature elevated the Contributors page, promoting user engagement.
For slideshows, we designed a custom solution that optimized image space, limiting captions to one line by default and providing an expandable option for longer captions. Minimalist controls ensured focus on the artwork.
Special attention was given to podcast pages, featuring a custom-designed player and additional features like transcripts, host and guest bios, and related content, enhancing the user experience.
The collaboration with Sotheby's and the Art Agency, Partners team focused on innovation, creativity, and delivering a tailored digital platform. The custom WordPress theme, along with unique features and editorial workflow, elevated the website, providing a seamless blend of art and technology for its diverse audience.
