The Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award is a prestigious honor presented annually at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe festival. The festival, attracting artists and audiences globally, is the world's largest arts festival, and the award ceremony is a significant event covered by international press.
I had the privilege of collaborating with Carol Tambor to enhance the digital presence of the award. Our goal was to modernize the existing website and create an engaging online platform. The project involved migrating the static website to WordPress and redesigning it using a StudioPress theme.
A key aspect of the project was integrating Carol Tambor's newsletter, "Speaking of Theatre," into the website. I implemented a subscription feature, providing access to an archive of past newsletters. This not only kept enthusiasts informed but also made a wealth of theatrical insights readily available.
WordPress's user-friendly content management capabilities were utilized for easy updates, while PHP was used for custom functionalities. Hosting was optimized for performance.
Migrating to WordPress and implementing a contemporary design elevated the digital representation of the award. The integration of "Speaking of Theatre" and the user-friendly subscription archive enriched the website's content. As the world celebrates theatre excellence at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, the digital platform now stands as an equally remarkable stage for the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award.
